Saturday, April 27, 2019 10:30 – ? On April 27th get yourself to Berkeley – there is plenty of parking. Suzan Steinberg, owner of Stonemountain & Daughter, will give us a tour of her newly “refreshed” store plus a presentation of new fabrics. Think scuba fabric, double gauzes and more. Our tour/presentation will start at 10:30. At noon we break for lunch. The café around the corner has set up especially for us. Then back to Stonemountain to shop. The Department of Media Arts at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) is calling for women skilled in hand sewing and professional seamstresses, to hand sew clothing articles together as part of the performance and art installation Alterations (1994-95), in the museum galleries during the regular opening hours of the museum. Here is a year-round community service opportunity that allows you to share your love of sewing by making and donating quilts to those in need.  Attached is a pattern for a quilt top that you can use to cut using your scraps.  In addition, if you attend one of the Chapter’s program events, kits are cut and ready to take home.  You are able to work on the quilt top and then return it to a monthly program, when it is completed.
